I grew up in Penfield, a suburb of Rochester NY. I still occasionally go back to the area to visit friends and family. Over the years, I have developed a list of the top things to visit while in that part of upstate New York.
• High Falls & History Museum. Don’t miss the short video of Rochester highlights you view while in the museum cab. Shocking and tragic that the City turned its back to these magnificent falls until very recently.
• Pontillos Pizza. Upstate New York rivals some of the best pizza in America. Thick, chewy crust and superb sauces.
• Letchworth State Park
• Niagara Falls (Buffalo)
• House of Guitars. An astonishing collection of music, instruments, and memorabilia from the enormous number of rock stars who have visited.
• Charlotte Beach. Heavily used and surprising quality.
• Bully Hill Winery
• Nick Tahoe’s. Their “Garbage Plate” is world famous, and was a frequent dish my friends and I ordered after partying as teenagers.
• Erie Canal Heritage Trail
• Wine Tour of Seneca Lake
• Genesee Riverway Trail and Boardwalk
• Erie Canal Historic Guided Boat Ride
